The St. George's Derby was born in 2009 in celebration of St. George's then 50th Anniversary, hosted in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Show Jumping during their July Mid Summer Classic horse show. The idea was to host a day of fun to raise money for the Alberta Children's Hospital and provide a challenging Derby experience for riders of all levels. The Derby is run like a speed round over a 20+ jump course made up of unique fences and natural obstacles, like our table top and Devil's Dyke, with prizes and money to be won in every class. Complimentary food is provided for riders and spectators to enjoy during this incredibly entertaining and special day.

The tradition has continued since then. New jumps are added every year and the St. George's staff and volunteers work hard leading up to the event to make it a memorable experience for all.
